Elizabeth Salvo and John Clift of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a son, Mason Douglas Clift, born on Sept. 13 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Mason weighed 9 pounds, 5.7 ounces at birth. He joins big sister Emma and big brothers Reilly and Jackson at home.
Kealee Rainaud and Alex Friedman of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Lucy Mae Friedman, born on Sept. 14 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Lucy weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces at birth.
Alexis and Dave Bettencourt of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Jayden Alan Bettencourt, born on Sept. 15 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Jayden weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces at birth.

The Martha’s Vineyard Youth Task Force will be able to continue promoting a healthy Island, thanks to a recent grant from the federal Drug Free Communities programs.
Totaling $625,000, to be distributed over a five-year period, the grant enables the Youth Task Force to continue its substance abuse prevention work, co-coordinator Theresa Manning said on Monday. The Youth Task Force was established in 2004 by the Dukes County Health Council after statistics showed substance use among Vineyard youths to be higher on average than state levels.
The Vineyarders were on the wrong end of an offensive shootout during Saturday’s home game against the Brighton Bengals, falling 60-41.
The Vineyard jumped on the board first after senior back Joe Turney rushed for a five-yard touchdown, but Brighton answered with a score of its own on a 60 yard pass.
