Edgartown police chief Antone Bettencourt said the mass casualty drill will last about three hours and will likely close part of Edgartown-West Tisbury Road and Cooke street.

Regional high school freshman Ben DeBettencourt took home the grand prize Monday morning in the 17th annual linguini bridge contest. His project withstood 1,500 pounds of weight without showing so much as a crack, outlasting 98 entrants in the contest.

The commission voted unanimously last week to designate a new DCPC to control fertilizer use. Voters in Island towns will be asked to adopt regulations this spring. The plan has strong support from boards of health, landscapers and golf course managers.

Dukes County is opening up its doors and hosting an open house on Thursday, April 3, at a few sites around the Island. The event provides the community a chance to learn more about what the county has to offer.
