The Vineyard’s own Rob Douglas won best speed and three out of four races at the National French Kitesurfing Speed Championships held last week in La Franqui, France.

Local food is about a lot more than just healthy and great tasting food. It’s a way of life, and each year the Living Local Harvest Festival puts center stage the whole process of the local movement, from soil to stomach and beyond.

A day at the golf course this weekend will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. The MV BIG Golf Fore Kids Tournament will take place Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Mink Meadows Golf Club in Vineyard Haven.

If funding is approved at upcoming town meetings, the Martha’s Vineyard Refuse District will expand its central facility beginning next year. The Vineyard produces thousands of tons of trash annually, all of it shipped off-Island.
