Tonight the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks return to the ‘Shark Tank’ at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School for their season opener against North Shore. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the first pitch is thrown at 7 p.m. Little League players who show up in uniform are admitted free.

Vineyard Medical Care announced this week that three familiar physicians have joined the Vineyard Haven walk-in clinic, as laboratory services and research work continue to expand.

By mutual agreement, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services has taken ownership of the renovated Luce house for permanent use by the Family Center. The dormant Seminars, formed in 1976 to provide lectures and college-level courses on the Vineyard, will no longer exist.

Seaman apprentice Coco, a three-month-old chocolate Labrador mix, is the newest member of the Menemsha Coast Guard station. With a new puppy in residence, it's all hands on deck for training.

On Saturday and Sunday, over 100 participants comprising 15 teams took part in the annual Relay for Life cancer benefit. “It’s a great event to bring together people in the community,” said event chair Nicole Gazaille. “To honor those who are still fighting, and remember those that we’ve lost.”
