Pottery Auction
Blooming Bids for Kids, featuring unique planters and pottery for auction at Field Gallery and Sculpture Garden in West Tisbury, is a fund-raising event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Martha’s Vineyard. The event, Friday, June 19, is from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include fine wine, beer, heavy hors d’oeuvre and music, in addition to the action of plants and art pieces. The gallery is located at 1050 State Road in West Tisbury. Reserve a place by June 2 by calling 508-771-5150, extension 105.
The annual Possible Dreams Auction, the Island’s signature summer charity event that has sustained Martha’s Vineyard Community Services for more than three decades, is heading back to the seaside and will take place this year in Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs, allowing the event to expand its capacity as the economy hammers philanthropy across the country.
Auction organizers will announce the venue change today.
Dessert and Auction
Everyone is invited to a dessert and auction hosted by the Federated Church youth group on Sunday, May 17 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the parish house on South Sumemr street in Edgartown.
An auction will follow the dessert, with Pastor Jerry Fritz serving as auctioneer. Items include four tickets for the Shenandoah, an MP3 player, gift certificates, gift baskets, and, of course, much more. All proceeds go to support the youth group’s mission work.

Woman of the Year
The Empowered Woman of the Year Brunch will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at Mediterranean in Oak Bluffs. The brunch honors Cindy Doyle of Vineyard Haven.

Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard and the Town of West Tisbury are searching for a family to purchase a three-bedroom affordable house, and the application deadline is Monday, May 18.
Big Night Out
Big Night Out, the annual Vineyard Montessori School fund-raiser, is May 15 at Farm Neck golf course from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be live and silent auctions, with hors d’oeuvre and dessert from Rickard’s Bakery. Tickets will be available at the door as well as online at ticketsmv.com.
