Marli Duarte and Anche Duarte of West Tisbury announce the birth of a son, Kauâ Luiz Batista Macena, born on Jan. 13 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Kaua weighed 8 pounds, 3.5 ounces at birth.

Dean’s List

Benjamin Hopkins of Vineyard Haven, a member of the class of 2013 at Connecticut College, was named to the dean’s list for the 2011 fall semester.

Zachary Coutinho, a senior studying management at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., has been named to the dean’s honor list for the fall semester.

Joins Endowment

Andria Jason has joined the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard as their new foundation manager. She will be handling all administrative responsibilities for the endowment and assisting the board in bringing charitable resources to Island nonprofits and students.

Grants Awarded

The Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund with the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard, has awarded $4,863 in grants to 14 Island school teachers representing seven schools on the Vineyard. Since the mini-grant program’s inception in 2010, the bank’s charitable fund has provided about $10,800 to assist and recognize teachers throughout the Vineyard and in Falmouth.

Joanne Andrade and Ricardo Andrade of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a son, Jose Hyrio Cabral Andrade, born on Jan. 20, 2012, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Jose weighed 7 pounds, 14.5 ounces.
