New Polly Hill Members
The Polly Hill Arboretum is pleased to welcome two new members to the Arboretum team. Ian Jochems joins as a new full-time horticulturist, and Jaime Morin begins her nine-month collections management internship.
League Of Women Voters
The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard will host a candidates’ forum at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven on April 4. The forum will begin at 7 p.m.
Harlow Arrives
Elizabeth Blaydes and James Hannah Jr. of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Harlow Brewer Hannah, born on March 19 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Harlow weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces at birth.
Positive Impact
South Mountain Company, an employee-owned architecture, building, and renewable energy firm in West Tisbury, has been recognized in the first nationwide “Best for the World” and “Best for Workers” lists as one of the businesses creating the most positive worker impact. South Mountain and the other businesses on the lists earned the highest scores among more than 500 Certified “B Corporations” nationwide.
Master of Arts
Susan Johnson of Vineyard Haven was awarded a Master of Arts in art education from Boston University in January.
Easter Bazaar
The Ladies Auxiliary will host a bake sale and Easter Bazaar on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs VFW. Bazaar tables will be rented out for $30. Those who would like to participate may call Tiffany Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 508-693-9261. Baked good donations are also appreciated. All proceeds will go to local and overseas veterans.
