Library Quest
A quest launching party will be held at the Chilmark Public Library on Saturday, June 27, from noon to 5 p.m. A quest is a treasure hunt designed to connect people with a place: its details, stories and history. The Library Quest and the Village Quest were done in collaboration with the Martha’s Vineyard Museum and the children of the Chilmark School to create the Quests. For details, call 508-645-3360.
Palestinian interfaith expert Aziz Abu Sarah, a peace building practitioner of 10 years, will offer a first-hand perspective on the prospects for a negotiated, two-state resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the role activists can play in achieving it at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, free at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center on Centre street in Vineyard Haven.

Art Every Day for children entering grades 1-6 will begin Monday, June 29 and will continue each week through the week of August 17. Art Every Day will be offered Monday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. for a cost of $30 per class. Can gardening put life in perspective? On Wednesday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. Laura Coit, garden designer and Polly Hill Arboretum volunteer, presents Lessons from the Homestead Border.
She will discuss lessons she learned while creating and maintaining the Homestead Border at the arboretum. This colorful mixed border combines shrubs, perennials, natives and bulbs in seasonal combinations. Ms. Coit planned a sunset color scheme and planted in the spirit of experimentation; along the way she learned something about garden design, plants and life.
The Yard’s summer program offers kids six separate week-long workshops, from July 6 to August 14, for children entering kindergarten to eighth grades. Each week will be different, each designed to nourish students’ imaginations while introducing them to basic skills of theater, music, movement, circus, yoga and stage combat (sword flashing, Harry Potter/Star Wars style).

All Island teens aged 12 to 16 are welcome for pizza and improv theatre games with Nora Laudani, from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Chilmark Public Library.
