Fun to Dance at YMCA
The collaboration between the Yard and the YMCA begins on Oct. 24 when Dance with the Yard starts its fall program of classes.
Kids will learn the fundamentals of modern, ballet, and creative dance skills with Yard choreographer-dance educator, Jesse Keller. Professional visiting artists from the Yard will also help out with the classes, in particular drumming and rhythm training, student choreography opportunities, and end-of-session performances.
Food and Wine Festival Has Legs
This weekend there will be tongues doing the tango all over the Vineyard as the Food and Wine festival lands once again on our shores. Let’s face it, food never appears here in this style of abundant and delicious diversity except for during this annual event.
Halloween Costume Trade
Okay, so it was in the 80‘s this weekend, but that doesn’t mean that Halloween isn’t still around the corner. And for those with extra costumes lying around, or those with no ideas or materials to help the little ones scare the hair off Aunt Dot, the Oak Bluffs Library is setting up a costume swap.
Drop off your unwanted costume at the Oak Bluffs Public Library anytime before 6 p.m. on Oct. 21. And for every costume donated you get a ticket to the big swap on Oct. 22 from 10:30 to 3 p.m.

Falmouth Academy will host an admissions open house on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. at their campus in Falmouth.
Throughout the afternoon, student guides will conduct tours of the campus, and Falmouth Academy teachers and current parents will be available to meet with visitors. The open house will include information sessions on the middle school, the school’s study skills curriculum, interscholastic athletics, and financial aid. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the school’s headmaster, David C. Faus.
Kids Clothing Swap
This Saturday, Oct. 15, there is a free kids clothing and book swap at the West Tisbury School.
Stop by to browse the gently used clothing, shoes and books or if you have items to donate, drop them off. Most items are for kids from kindergarten to sixth grade.
The swap takes place at the school from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is free.
Left over items will be donated to charity.
