At the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, a black and white photograph freezes Ben Higgins in mid-air as he twists his body over the high jump bar.
“I remember he used to sit in the front row,” said Martha’s Vineyard regional high school history teacher Elaine Weintraub as she looked at the photograph.
There was plenty of reason to celebrate.
The Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living will hold its first cultural luncheon of the year on Saturday, Jan. 26, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Grill on Main in Edgartown. The theme for the series ties in with Arts Martha’s Vineyard which works to promote and support the arts on the Island. The featured speaker is Ann Smith, executive director of the Featherstone Center for the Arts.
The West Tisbury Library is hosting a free poetry workshop every Friday in February from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The workshop is for intermediate and advanced writers and will focus primarily on critique with writing prompts included on occasion. The workshop will be limited to five participants.
