Renovations began this week on the Edgartown town hall, closing part of the town hall parking lot and one of the entrances to the building.

Edgartown procurement officer Jen O’Hanlon said that the repairs are expected to last until January. The work includes putting a new roof on the building, as well as painting and other small repairs.

With Rez Williams’s paintings hanging on the walls of the Grange Hall Monday, artist Ruth Kirchmeier recalled one of his art exhibits at the former Nye Gallery. His signature boat paintings were placed on dark walls and lit from above, she said. “One felt surrounded by looming giants of every color and description, with skies that were more vivid than and unlike any sky a mere mortal might experience. Fighting with the sky for attention was the equally mesmerizing water. It was glorious.”

Cape and Islands State Sen. Dan Wolf said Monday he is ending his campaign for governor.

Mr. Wolf announced his gubernatorial run in July, but shortly afterward a state ethics commission ruling said that his partial ownership of Cape Air represented a conflict of interest because the company has contracts with Logan Airport, which is run by a state agency.
