The Martha’s Vineyard Commission has unanimously approved the continued operation of a boat repair shop that straddles the Oak Bluffs-Vineyard Haven town line, in an area abutting both a settled neighborhood and a business district in Tisbury.

Steamship officials declined to name the finalists Thursday, but said they expect to have public interviews this month for the pair, one of whom already works for the ferry line.

Planning board chair Casey Hayward lodged a formal complaint on Sept. 19 after the email, in which select board member Roy Cutrer objected to Ms. Hayward’s conduct during a public meeting two days earlier.
