Library Speakeasy
Pulitzer-prize winning author Tony Horwitz headlines the Speakeasy Series of author talks this Tuesday, Nov. 29, at State Road Restaurant in West Tisbury. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and is in collaboration with the West Tisbury Library Foundation, Inc., to benefit the library’s capital campaign.

This Saturday, Nov. 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Whaling Church, the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society will present an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary music performed by a quartet of world-class musicians, and the tickets will cost only $20 at the door.
Class of 1981 Reunion
The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School class of 1981 will celebrate its 30th reunion on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the P.A. Club in Oak Bluffs. All classmates, teachers and friends are invited to attend, and are asked to bring an appetizer or plate of finger food to share. A cash bar will be available. Lending a Hand
The Family to Family Program of Serving Hands Food Distribution is working to ensure that Island families in need will have a great Thanksgiving meal. Islanders who can are asked to sponsor one of the families by contributing the cost of one family’s meal, $25. Last Thanksgiving the program provided more than 170 meals.
Cynthia Riggs, daughter of Dionis Coffin Riggs, has immortalized her mother as the 92-year-old sleuth Victoria Trumbull of a popular Island mystery series. Riggs, the younger, has penned ten of these novels so far, the title of each one inspired by the name of a poisonous, or at least sinister, flower, such as Deadly Nightshade and The Paperwhite Narcissus.
Adult and Community Education of Martha’s Vineyard (ACE MV) will have its second annual benefit celebrating Island diversity and culture on Nov. 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the regional high school.
