It’s a fairy tale with a surrealist bent, a celebration of the power of imagination with a somber undertone.
Written by Brian Ditchfield, and originally conceived as a video to be shot in alleyways of Chicago, Kim and Delia is the first production of Art Farm, Mr. Ditchfield’s and Brooke Hardman’s joint venture in something they call “sustainable art.”
Island Theatre Workshop’s long-running summer program, Children’s Theatre, begins on Monday, June 29 and runs through Friday, August 21 at the Sailing Camp park on Barnes Road in Oak Bluffs,
“Gentlemen, I am tickled pink to be instructing you colored fliers,” announces white Captain O’Hurley (Joe Forbrich) to his black World War II aviation cadets, in a voice dripping more sarcasm than the crankcase of a P-40 Warhawk extrudes oil. In truth, at the time that the first black airmen were trained at Tuskegee Army Airfield in 1941, many believed the cadets lacked the intelligence and skill to fly a single-engine or multi-engine plane.
They were wrong.
The Vineyard Playhouse’s popular summer series of new work, the Monday Night Special, begins its season with You Want Me To Do What? My Life As A Nurse, a new solo performance piece written and performed by Mary Lou Shriber.
You Want Me To Do What? will be presented on Monday, June 22,at 7 p.m. at the playhouse on Church street in Vineyard Haven.

All Island teens aged 12 to 16 are welcome for pizza and improv theatre games with Nora Laudani, from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Chilmark Public Library.
Emergency Film Group of Edgartown announces an open casting call on Wednesday, June 17, for extras needed for an upcoming film to be shot in Oak Bluffs. Actors are being sought to play the roles of teenagers, teachers, and criminals. No experience necessary. The film shoot will take place in late June.
