Walking in pairs, arms linked, Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School seniors proceeded to the stage Sunday for their graduation ceremony to the Beatles classic With a Little Help from My Friends.
As high school athletes begin post season play, the boys baseball team topped the roster this week with a first-round win over Hanover, marking the first post-season win for the boys in 14 years.
Some 200 fifth and sixth graders from around the Island spent Thursday afternoon racing cars behind the Edgartown School. The cars were small, sleek and solar, built by the students themselves.
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School class of 2017 will set a record at graduation, this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the campus in West Tisbury. This year’s class is the largest yet, with 14 students.
The seventh-seeded Vineyard boys team goes up against 10th-seed Hanover Thursday at home. Game time is 3:15 p.m. at the high school diamond.
Mary Morano has skippered her high school sailing team to smooth waters, always casting a sailor’s eye on life. She has been sailing since age seven, and two years ago made a comeback following a serious accident on the water.
