Ten Edgartown restaurants will take advantage of special outdoor dining permits as the town’s fledgling European model for the downtown business district looks to become a reality.

Restaurant owners approached the restart of indoor dining with extreme caution and a new menu of worries on Monday.

Edgartown restaurants can now officially apply to expand their outdoor dining capacity, after selectmen approved a policy Monday to allow seating areas on downtown sidewalks.

Gov. Charlie Baker announced preliminary guidelines on Friday for shuttered restaurant and lodging services, beginning June 8.

The popular Vineyard Haven restaurant Little House Cafe will come under new ownership in July. The buyer is Chilmark resident Brook Katzen.
