The owners of Reliable Market are proposing to demolish the former Phillips Hardware store on Circuit avenue in order to build a new Victorian-style mixed use building that would have retail space and housing.
The building housing the Island’s last main street hardware store, 30 Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs, has changed hands after more than 90 years under the ownership of the Phillips family. The buyers are Robert and Donna Pacheco.
A few things have changed since the Reliable Market first opened in 1947, but not the family behind its success. The Pachecos have owned and operated the Circuit avenue store from the beginning.
