The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School’s Rock Auction — part auction and part 1960s dance party — is scheduled for Sunday, May 25 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center.

A silent auction and hot hors d’oeuvres are set from 5:30 to 7 p.m., a live auction from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and dancing to 1960s tunes from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Male Dancing Revue

Men in Motion, a male revue show, returns to Outerland on Airport Road, Edgartown today, Friday, May 16.

The R-rated Chippendales-style show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door. This is a event for people 21 and older. Men in Motion performed last November at Outerland.

Boston cello sensation Sebastian Baverstam and the Russian-American piano virtuoso Constantine Finehouse will perform a concert at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Sunday, May 25, at 4 p.m. The program includes works of Beethoven, Kodaly, Schemmer and Brahms, and will benefit The Vineyard Playhouse. A free reception to honor the artists and the composer Tony Schemmer will follow the performance.

Alasdair Fraser, one of Scotland’s finest fiddlers, and Natalie Haas, the talented young Californian cellist will perform at the Katharine Cornell Theatre on Thursday, May 15, at 8 p.m.

Sounds of chattering teenagers filled the performance hall as they slowly gathered around the piano at the center of the stage. Dressed in causal clothing, some of it splashed with names of colleges they hope to attend next fall, these Island teens appeared relaxed in their role as international performers fresh off a seven-engagement tour of Austria.

After performing in the cathedrals, palaces and streets of Vienna, the Minnesingers this week were preparing for this weekend’s Island show, called Can You Dig It?
