College hockey is coming to the Vineyard Jan. 15 and 16, with the first ever college hockey tournament held on Island: the MV Showdown.
The Vineyard girls’ hockey team defeated Bourne last week to secure their spot in the state tournament. Senior captains Aubrey Ashmun, Sydney Davies, Erin Hegarty and Olivia Ogden, a tight-knit team that has played on the varsity squad since they were freshmen, led the way.
The girls' varsity hockey team defeated Scituate and Quincy/North Quincy to win the 14th annual Nan Rheault Tournament this weekend. The Vineyard girls have hosted the four-team tournament since its inception, but this marked the first time they had won.
