A cluster of eight coronavirus cases has been traced to a wedding that was held on Martha’s Vineyard over Columbus Day weekend and violated state guidelines regarding travel protocol, according to Island health officials.

The Island boards of health reported six new cases of Covid-19 on Monday and said they were investigating a cluster of cases stemming from a private event held on Oct. 11

The Martha’s Vineyard boards of health reported two new coronavirus cases on the Island Friday, bringing the total case count to 113.

Due to rising cases of Covid-19 connected to indoor ice hockey, Governor Baker has ordered all indoor ice arenas and skating facilities to cease operations for the next two weeks.

The state Department of Public Health reported nearly 1,000 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, their highest number in months despite Island health agents reporting no new cases of the virus on the Vineyard.
