Count Me In — Not So Small Town Politics on Martha’s Vineyard is the name of the newest exhibit at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.
Minnesingers’ Auction
Tomorrow is the Minnesingers’ Annual Auction and Mini-Concert. The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s select vocal group will perform, plus there will be food, an array of items in a silent auction and a live auction with Trip Barnes at the microphone.
Help support the Minnesingers as they pursue community and cultural outreach through music. Doors open at 5 p.m., live auction begins at 7 p.m. It’s all at the Portuguese American Club on Vineyard avenue in Oak Bluffs.
The stunning success of the ninth annual Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School Scarecrow Contest is evident across the Vineyard. This year’s theme of marine life resulted in fishermen, jellyfish, sharks, sardines, sea dragons and whales appearing in front of participating businesses everywhere. Scarecrows will be coming down on Sunday, Nov. 2, so make sure to get down Island to see them all.

There was no quorum for an Aquinnah special town meeting Tuesday night, delaying some $25,000 in spending requests and frustrating town leaders.
Town moderator Walter E. Delaney rescheduled the meeting for Nov. 13.
Aquinnah town meetings have been blighted by low attendance this year. Of the seven gatherings to date this year for either special or annual town meetings just three have secured and maintained a quorum for long enough to complete business.
Morning Glory Farm of Edgartown has received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture which owners Jim and Debbie Athearn plan to use to install a 50-kilowatt wind turbine. Morning Glory is one of 14 farms statewide to share a total of $730,177 in federal grants for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources announced this week.
