Sportsmanship Award
Tim McHugh received the F. Paul Bogan Memorial Sportsmanship Award from the Northeast-10 tennis conference. He is a junior at Merrimack College. The men’s tennis team qualified for the NCAA Division 2 tournament to be played at Queens College May 6 and 7. He was also selected to the All-Conference team.
Tim is the son of Connie and Leo McHugh of Edgartown and is a 2007 Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School graduate.
With its strong history of winning records and qualifying for the state tournament nearly every year, the boys’ tennis team is a perenniel standout.
And this year the team under longtime coach Ned Fennessey is having perhaps its strongest season ever, winning the league title in their first year in the Eastern Athletic Conference with a remarkable record of 12-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in their league.
Kids’ Fishing Jamboree
Bring the kids to the Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters’ Kids’ Jamboree on Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Meet at the Edgartown School parking lot for free mini-seminars on casting, beach fishing, knot-tying, ice-fishing, fly-fishing, where to catch fish on the Vineyard and more. Please plan to stay with your kids. Hot dogs, chips and refreshments. The rain date is Sunday, May 16.

The Hillside Village community center is the last place one would think of going to sit in a dentist chair. But recently, the community center, a living room and kitchen were turned over to Dr. Ghassan Khoury, 43, a dentist from Lexington with a growing following. To his friends, to his patients, he is Dr. Gus.
