Fallon Aiello and Carlos Montoya announce the birth of a son, Joaquin Sol Montoya, born on Nov. 12 at the family’s home on Chase Road in Edgartown. Joaquin weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces at birth, and is welcomed by big sister Everly.

Gordon Culleto, 18, of West Tisbury graduated from the Performance Instruction & Training (PIT) facility in Mooresville, N.C. on Oct. 22. Pit Crew U. is a training course for individuals interested in a career in the motorsports industry as an over-the-wall pit crew athlete. In addition to learning pit stop choreography and each of the six positions on a pit crew, students become proficient in race day preparation, equipment maintenance and selection, and pit road rules and regulations.

Where are all the people who love tuxedo cats and kittens? We have two of the most adorable five-month-old kittens: Brady and Burt, who are brothers and have the most affectionate dispositions. They beg to be loved and have purrs that will melt your heart. We also have two 12-week-old kittens: Cedric, who is a ginger tabby, and his sister, Cherry, who is a beautiful brindle calico.

Dr. Joseph E. Murray of Wellesley and Chappaquiddick, a plastic surgeon whose pioneering work in organ transplant surgery in the 1950s later led to a Nobel Prize in medicine, died on Nov. 26 in Boston from complications following a stroke. He was 93. Dr. Murray died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the same hospital where he performed his first kidney transplant in 1954.

“The privilege of taking care of fellow human beings is tremendous,” he told the Gazette in a 2001 interview.
