An oven building team for the Flatbread Company put finishing touches on a new clay dome inside the Edgartown restaurant. The eatery specializing in all natural wood-fired clay oven pizza is set to open for the 2014 season May 15.
Anita Botti of West Tisbury was honored last month by the Washington, D.C., chapter of the National Organization of Italian American Women as one of that organization’s three Women of the Year. Ms. Botti recently retired from being chief of staff and principal deputy in former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s Office of Global Women’s Issues. During those four years, she worked with Secretary Clinton promoting the rights of women globally and recently completed the transition work for the Women’s Issues office for Secretary of State John Kerry. On Thursday night the Massachusetts marine fisheries advisory commission set the new commercial striped bass season to open on June 23 this year. Commissioners dropped the daily bag limit from 30 fish to 15 fish per fisherman. Rod and reel fishing permits are limited to two fish per day.
Architect Reid (Sam) Dunn’s Cottage City Bowling now goes to the town for approvals at the local level. Mr. Dunn agreed to keep sound levels at 62 decibels. The commission said the matter of a full-service bar versus beer and wine will be up to the town selectmen to decide.

Quick response by volunteer firefighters on Barnes Road in Oak Bluffs Wednesday night saved both a summer home and a seven and a half foot triceratops skull. The skull is owned by Dr. Henry Kriegstein, a collector of rare fossils.
