“There are two types of people; those who eat kale and those who should.”

Bo Muller-Moore, to whom this quote is attributed, is a nutritional prophet and a kale entrepreneur. While it is unclear whether he grows the green stuff himself, his “Eat More Kale” T-shirts are a must-have gift for the kale lover in your life.

The body of a leatherback turtle, a federally protected endangered species, washed ashore at South Beach on Monday. Volunteer members of the turtle stranding committee said the cause of death was not immediately apparent.

“There was no sign of an injury,” said Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary director Suzan Bellincampi. Ms. Bellincampi said the turtle was in a state of decomposition and had likely been floating for awhile before washing ashore.

The brightest planet in the night sky hovers low in the west just after sunset. Venus is not an easy planet to see unless you have a clear view of the western sky. Standing along the north shore, from West Chop to the Gay Head Cliffs offers the clearest view. There it hovers for a short time in the twilight, outshining all others.

Winter Walk

The Vineyard Conservation Society (VCS) begins its program of guided winter walks this Sunday, Nov. 13, starting at 1:30 p.m. with an interpretative hike around the moors, beaches and heathlands of Aquinnah’s Moshup Trail.

The habitat at Moshup Trail is considered globally rare, with more than 90 per cent of these coastal heathlands lost due largely to land development.

Proceed down Moshup Trail from the down-Island side and look for VCS signs on the left. The walk will last approximately two hours.

If you are reading this column, then Don Yeomans was correct.

Yeomans, a senior research scientist at NASA, last week assured the public that a sizeable asteroid heading our way would not collide with our home planet Earth or our moon.

Thank goodness, he was right.
