With several large developments expected to make their way to the Martha’s Vineyard Commission in the coming years, more than 10 candidates have launched campaigns for nine seats on the regional planning board.
The town select board appointed deputy chief Stephen Foster to the permanent post Tuesday night. Mr. Foster will take the helm of the department on Dec. 21, when Chief Nelson Wirtz retires.
At the meeting Dec. 17, voters will be asked to approve more than $8 million for library improvements.
An Edgartown subdivision plan that aims to tackle the Island’s middle-income housing shortage is headed for deliberations by the Martha’s Vineyard Commission following the conclusion of a public hearing Thursday.
The town will host the seven-article meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. at the West Tisbury School.
The Tisbury planning board is short one member after Elaine Miller resigned last month. The board is advertising for Tisbury residents willing to serve the rest of Ms. Miller’s five-year term.
