Dukes County hired Juliet Mulinare to be its new treasurer last week as the regional government continues to push for the position to become appointed.

Arielle Faria, a project manager at Island Housing Trust, said this week that she will run for the state representative seat currently held by state Rep. Dylan Fernandes, who will be running for state senate.

The public is invited and will have a chance to listen to candidates present their positions and ask questions. 

Chilmark select board member Bill Rossi and Oak Bluffs select board member Jason Balboni both are planning to step down after their terms are over, shaking up the Island political scene as boards face large infrastructure projects and sky high housing costs.
