POLICING GREENLANDS
Editors, Vineyard Gazette:
In light of a recent increase in dirt bike and ATV riding within the conservation property owned by the town of West Tisbury known as the Margaret K. Littlefield Greenlands, the conservation commission would like to remind the public of the history behind the acquisition of this property and its value to the Island.
Summer White House 2011
Marine One touched down at the Martha’s Vineyard Airport yesterday afternoon just before six o’clock as the sun began to sink on a blue-sky August day, delivering President Obama for his third consecutive summer vacation.
REMEMBER TO READ
Dear Mr. President:
Things to do on Martha’s Vineyard:
1. Read the Vineyard Gazette.
2. Go to the Ag Fair and get a corn dog and if you can, you should go to the pig races.
3. Go to the Chilmark Store to buy a muffin or a bagel, then enjoy it on the porch.
4. Try to boogie board at the beach, then you should relax and eat some snacks and play a game with your family (you should snack on a lobster roll and a Vitamin Water).
From Gazette editions of August, 1986:
It is so special this time, there will be color postcards, a Vineyard Clydesdale, the calzones, the Mexican egg rolls, and one more thing — there will be the head of the state Department of Agriculture, full of ideas, honors and praise for the Vineyard farmers.
Editor’s Note: The following story was published in the Gazette in August 1961 on the occasion of the fair centennial.
