Ocean Club Cleared for Dining

Ocean Club, a new fine-dining restaurant on Vineyard Haven’s Main street, has received its eatery license from the Tisbury select board and is in the final stages of local inspections.

Ocean Club, a new fine-dining restaurant on Vineyard Haven’s Main street, has received its eatery license from the Tisbury select board and is in the final stages of local inspections.

Owner Reid (Sam) Dunn did not specify an opening date when he spoke with the board last week, but indicated it would be this month.

“We’re very excited to be opening soon,” said Mr. Dunn, for whom the fine-dining establishment will be the capstone of his mixed-use redevelopment project at the former Old Stone Bank.

Located in the historic bank building’s lobby and vault, Ocean Club will be managed by Boston-based Lyons Group, which operates El Barco on the same property. Lyons Group principal Patrick Lyons is a seasonal Island resident.

The new restaurant’s chef will be Marc Orfaly, who has been nominated six times for the prestigious Best Chefs in America award from the James Beard Foundation, Mr. Dunn said.

Can’t wait. Ocean club brings back many memories. Except I’m married now and 42 years older.

Great to see another dining alternative in VH. Looking forward to your opening. We visit year round and hope to be a part of their success! Congrats from a frequent diner.

I still have silver dollars from their vault I got for my birthday when I was a kid. 1879 is the date on the coins. My dad thought it was hilarious they still had them in 1958 or so.
