Island Libraries Earn Stars

The West Tisbury Library received a five-star rating and the Edgartown Library received three stars from Library Journal.

The West Tisbury Library received a five-star rating and the Edgartown Library received three stars in a national ranking of Library Journal's annual review of public libraries. 

A total of 5,608 U.S. libraries were rated nationwide, and 262 qualified as star libraries, according to the libraryjournal.com website.

Library Journal ranks the best-performing libraries within budget categories, based on a review of library data reported to the government including visits, checkouts, program attendance, e-material circulation, public computer use and wi-fi sessions per capita.

Bob Edgartown

Not sure what the criteria is to decide the number of stars. The Edgartown Library is very well run and a great addition to the town. With all the money that we have spent on it puzzling why it’s not five stars.
