Arts & Entertainment
In the morning Diana Reilly puts on her garden gloves and travels around the Island with a gardening crew.
At night she turns into DJ Di and makes dance parties bloom with her beats.
“I’m like a vampire,” she joked.
Leading this double life makes for long days, but for Ms. Reilly it is worth it, and she is not alone.
“By day we are doing our money thing and by night we are swinging our art.”
When Irish Music Smiles
Tonight, June 8, at 8 p.m. KCT concerts is hosting a night of Irish music with fiddler Oisin MacDiarmada and singer and accordionist Seamus Begley. The show takes place at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven.
Mr. MacDiarmada is a native of Sligo, a region known for its rich fiddle tradition. He is also a music education graduate of Trinity University in Dublin and has been described as “one of the most gifted and creative traditional fiddlers playing today.”
With Interventions, Richard Russo’s new collection of short stories, readers get more than just words on the page (or the screen — more on that later).
Racing Under the Sun
Little Murders Everywhere? No, it’s not a warning about the demise of the Island, nor a message meant to scare. It’s the title of a new poetry collection by Rebecca Morgan Frank, who will read some of her work at the West Tisbury Library on Tuesday, June 5.
Ms. Frank will be joined by West Tisbury poet laureate Justen Ahren at the 5 p.m. reading, which is free and open to the public, with refreshments served.
Sense of Wonder Art Show
