Autism Support Group
A support group is forming for families with children on the autism spectrum. The group will provide a place for conversation and sharing of resources and experiences in navigating the autism spectrum.
The first meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chilmark library. More information is available by calling 508-645-3245 or 508-645-8002.
The Safe Haven Project got four aces last Saturday night in Oak Bluffs when more than a hundred friends and supporters showed up for a couple hours of gambling.
The event, a first for the nonprofit organization, was Casino Night at the Oyster Bar Grill on Circuit avenue.
Blackjack dealers wore stiff white shirts and dealt like the professionals from Foxwoods. “Oh, they are all local,” said Deanna Ahearn Laird, a longtime supporter of Safe Haven and volunteer on the camp committee.

Join a Jamaican Feast
An Indian feast earlier this month and, now, a five-course dinner from Jamaica: enjoy dinner on Saturday at the Dr. Daniel Fisher House while supporting the International Travel Fund at the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School.
Lap Puppets
April Thanhauser of Spindrift Marionettes will join the staff of Plum Hill School to offer a free morning of puppets and crafts tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Family Center at the high school.
April’s puppet show will feature colorful “lap puppets” enacting a medley of nursery rhymes — just right for toddlers and preschoolers.
Stephanie DaRosa and Josie Black of Plum Hill will follow with a natural craft activity for parents and children to do together.
