A surge of new restaurants in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs have filled new niches to expand offerings outside the norm, from gluten-free pizza to a whiskey bar.

Morning Glory Farm introduces its second cookbook with a reading on Tuesday at the farm stand. "In this book, vegetables are the stars," said Jim Athearn.

A new garden on Chilmark School grounds will honor a late Island educator and leader in the public schools.

The small native plant garden being built behind the school will honor the memory of Susan Parker, who died in June.

The annual Feast of the Holy Ghost parade began at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday outside the Steamship Authority terminal and then headed up Circuit avenue. Ninety-three-year-old Anita Combra did not walk in the parade this year, instead it came to her, as per tradition.

They weren’t on the farm, out at sea, behind the line or in their home kitchens.

For the first time, Island authors Susie Middleton, Catherine Walthers, Melinda Fager, Jessica B. Harris and Robert Lionette all had lunch together. And they did so with 70 other people.
