On June 24 a Facebook report claimed several Atlantic puffins were flying into Menemsha Pond up the channel.
The Christmas Bird Count was a lackluster event this year. All the teams had to work hard to find birds. The total is 121 species.
Onshore winds raised havoc with one of my favorite pelagic species, the dovekie. This little squirt, only eight inches long, is cousin to puffins and razorbills.
