At a talk sponsored by the League of Women Voters, former superintendent Peter Palches and current superintendent Dr. James H. Weiss spoke of the need to regionalize administrative functions in Island schools . Mr. Palches has asked the League to make a study of the issue.

Dukes County is looking to purchase the former home of the Vineyard Nursing Association to house the Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living.

County Manager Martina Thornton told the Edgartown selectmen Monday about a preliminary plan to raise as much as $1.6 million to purchase and renovate the building, which is located near State Road in Tisbury.

It was another busy year at the Island Food Pantry, a community-wide organization that feeds those in need.

The year proved similar to last year; there were 2,405 visits, which fed 505 family units, including at least 250 children.
