I made one of my favorite pre-Christmas purchases this week — several cans of gold spray paint. I started out spraying the still-intact sedums in a large pot at my front door.
Call me an oddball if you wish, but I simply love a rainy day. I’ve said countless times. . . there is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
Honestly, the weather on the Vineyard is so unpredictable, and in a good way. On Monday, Dec. 1, we worked in shirtsleeves. We were putting a garden to “bed” for the winter.
My weekend garden activities were cut short this past week. Violet and I took a day trip to Boston. We were privileged to hear a concert at Symphony Hall with Itzhak Perlman.
Last Saturday night was a real surprise with temperatures dipping into the teens here in Vineyard Haven.
It has finally happened. We’ve had a proper freeze. It’s sad, as always, to see another season come to an end. It is, however, oddly comforting to see the completion of a garden year.
