I could not be happier with the change from hot, humid and miserable summer weather. We had a nice, soaking rain to refresh the lawns and gardens.
Nothing makes me happier than the day after Labor Day when the weather is fabulous and folks come out of hiding. Cronig’s needs to set up a coffee bar; I spent most of Tuesday there gabbing with old friends.
Last week’s column (which I wrote on Tuesday) spent some time on my complaint about the lack of rain. Then, as luck would have it, we had a decent soaking as a result of a cold front.
After what seemed like endless heat and humidity, we finally got some relief. Monday and Tuesday, while still painfully dry, gave us lovely cool nights and days with a reasonable 70-degree temperature.
I wonder when or if we will ever see rain again. I’m so sad for the poor plants, especially the annuals.
The beginning of the week’s cloudy skies were a relief from unrelenting sun. Then I found out there were no clouds, only smoke from Canadian wildfires. Yikes! That cannot be good.
