One season ends, another begins.

Sailors of the Holmes Hole Sailing Association bid adieu to the summer series of races two weeks ago.Three days later, they turned their tillers for Vineyard Sound in the 37th Moffett Race.

The schooner Phra Luang and captain Jeff Robinson won the 37th running of the George M. Moffett Race last Saturday.

The best ever. That’s the conclusion of racers and committee members as last Sunday’s two races closed the books on the 2014 Holmes Hole Sailing Association summer season.

The big story to come out of the Holmes Hole Sailing Association’s summer series is the growing number of boats that are turning up at the starting line each week.

Mo Flam and his Alerion 28 Penelope continued on track for their golden summer with their third first-place finish of the season in the Holmes Holes Sunday series race.

The weather gods toyed with the Holmes Hole fleet this past week. Thursday’s race was cancelled due to rain and lightning.
