Following a banner year for Island bay scallops, the town of Edgartown has opted to extend commercial bay scallop season in Cape Pogue an extra two weeks until April 14.
The Dukes County Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to have the town of Edgartown take over the two-mile strip of shorefront east of South Beach.
More than 200 Islanders are expected to take part in Martha Goes to Beacon Hill on March 23, an event organized by the Coalition to Create the Martha’s Vineyard Housing Bank.
The two are the only Island towns with package stores, potentially halting nip sales on Martha’s Vineyard altogether.
