Chilmark voters will decide whether to support a major restructuring of the Martha’s Vineyard Refuse Disposal and Resource Recovery District.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Chilmark Community Center.Nelson Bryant’s new memoir, Mill Pond Joe, chronicles his early years on the Vineyard, his many near-death experiences during World War II, and 30 years as outdoors columnist for the New York Times, among other experiences.
Chilmark has reapplied for a major state grant to restore Squibnocket Beach after learning recently that the original award was in jeopardy. The selectmen have also approved $20,000 to fund cost estimates for alternative plans for the beach.
A subcommittee of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission will recommend that the Gay Head Light relocation project should not undergo review by the full commission.
