The Keene Swamp Bats came, saw, conquered and left victorious with a 14-10 win over the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks in game one of the NECBL championship Wednesday night.
Riding a wave of dominant starting pitching, heroic plays in the field and clutch hitting, the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks are two wins away from being crowned champions of the NECBL.
The Sharks eked out a victory in their first game of the NECBL playoffs Sunday night, defeating the Newport Gulls 2-1. The series now moves to Newport for a 6:30 p.m. game Monday.
The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks celebrated a 15-13 victory Thursday, finishing off their inaugural regular season in the New England Collegiate Baseball League with the most wins in the league.
It was the Alan Burnsed and Matt Chamberlain show Sunday night at the Shark Tank as the Sharks topped the New Bedford Bay Sox 13-4.
Red hot bats, strong starting pitching and late-inning heroics sent the Sharks to the top spot in their division by way of a 10-game winning streak. The team plays at home tonight; first pitch is at 7 p.m.
