Congratulations to Susan Wasserman, whose book Stepping Off the Boat, has just been awarded the 2026 Michigan Notable Book award by the Michigan Library Foundation.
The second snowfall of the season wasn’t as wonderful as the first. The familiarity of it all explains why I would happily postpone the next one until 2027. New is good, old is old.
Twas the day after Christmas
Is there anything more wondrous than the season’s first snow? When you wake up one morning and there is no color out the window? Not unlike an old, Oscar-worthy movie on a very big screen.
Christmas is less than two weeks away and there is an ancient song in my head with someone boasting about the 12 gifts she received in 12 days, all from Santa, whom she called her true love.
There are few places to pop in and order a casual meal in West Tisbury, especially in the winter, and this year we will lose the oldest of the eateries. At least for a while.
