West Tisbury voters will decide on a $300,000 general override to offset the town’s $20 million budget, when the annual town meeting and special election are held next week.
In a historic year, 115 West Tisbury voters traveled to Oak Bluffs Tuesday for their thrice-delayed annual town meeting, approving a $19.8 million budget and an abbreviated warrant.
Islanders are set to vote in two historic town meetings and one town election in their own version of super Tuesday today, as West Tisbury and Aquinnah look to certify budgets while Tisbury decides a three-way race for a seat on its select board. Polls are open in Tisbury from noon to 8 p.m.
West Tisbury convenes its annual town meeting Tuesday with a stripped-down warrant that includes only essential spending items. The meeting is Tuesday in Oak Bluffs.
West Tisbury selectmen have set June 23 at the date for the annual town meeting, which will be held this year in the Oak Bluffs Tabernacle.
June 23 is the tentative new annual meeting date, and June 25 is the tentative new date for the annual town election.
