The Coast Guard is calling off its plan to remove several navigation buoys near the Vineyard and throughout the northeast following strong public pushback.
Cynthia Sullivan died Thursday night due to the injuries she sustained from the fire and the swim she made to the small island on Monday from the burning boat, son Chris Sullivan said in a social media post.
A family of three swam to the small island and sought refuge in a barn after the fire broke out in their boat off the Vineyard.
