A lawyer by education and a salesman by personality, Fred Mascolo opened his first store on Upper Main street in Edgartown in 1982, and eventually ran nine stores in the New England area.
Fred Mascolo still remembers the first order he made for his Edgartown discount store, the eponymous Trader Fred’s: 2,500 pairs of Dunham boots, each to be priced at $24.99.
