A recent math error by consultants for Partners HealthCare has shed light on how the 19-bed Nantucket Cottage Hospital has increased hospital wage reimbursements throughout the state.
After more than two years without primary care on the Island, a group of Vineyard veterans blasted the Veterans Administration and Partners Healthcare yesterday for failing to restore medical services that had been available on the Island for years. The veterans met with a team of national representatives from the American Legion in the hope that they will bring their message back to Capitol Hill.
Partners HealthCare, which includes the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, has been named one of the nation’s 10 Top Health Systems by Thomson Reuters, a provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care. A Thomson Reuters announcement said that when compared with peers around the nation, Partners HealthCare saved more lives, caused fewer medical complications, made fewer medical errors, followed recommended standards of care more closely, released patients half a day sooner on average, and scored better on patient satisfaction surveys.
Some 1,500 lower-income Vineyard residents face the prospect of having to find new health insurance because the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital has determined its current insurer is not directing enough patients to its affiliated hospitals in Boston.
The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital is ready to pour the foundation for construction of its 90,000-square-foot expansion.
