The Edgartown select board is deciding whether it will ask voters to cover a $2.5 million shortfall in the new fire station budget at a winter special town meeting. 

Situated on a 54-acre parcel off Meeting House Way, the Katama Meadows development is attempting to withdraw its application to the Martha’s Vineyard Commission to allow for a redesign targeting Islanders in the “missing middle” income bracket. 

A proposal to enact term limits for Steamship Authority board members was unanimously opposed by the Edgartown select board on Monday. 

The Edgartown select board approved a 12 per cent rate increase for the Chappy Ferry, as residents raised concerns about financial transparency.

The board voted at its meeting Monday to allow the Dock Dance Band to hold the weekly downtown summer concerts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, though the band was seeking a later start time on Fridays.

Chappy ferry owner Peter Wells lodged a request for a 12 per cent increase for most fares with the select board last week.
