Barefoot and ready to dance, people of all ages gathered at Edgartown Memorial Wharf on Tuesday for the first Dock Dance of the summer season.
The board voted at its meeting Monday to allow the Dock Dance Band to hold the weekly downtown summer concerts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, though the band was seeking a later start time on Fridays.
The Edgartown select board voted unanimously Monday to start Dock Dance an hour earlier after hearing concerns from Chappy ferry co-owner Peter Wells and the Edgartown police about underage drinking.
In Edgartown, there are new kids on the dock.
Some wore high heels, some wore cutoffs and others arrived in their bathing suits for the first Dock Dance of the season Tuesday night.
After Covid-19 and police staffing challenges suspended the Edgartown event, the Dock Dances at Memorial Wharf will be back for the first time since 2019.
