For four weeks, Godfrey Muwulya, a native dancer from Uganda, has been teaching traditional dances from his country to fifth and sixth grade social studies students at the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School, thanks to The Yard.
Acclaimed dancer/choreographer Aparna Ramaswamy brings her performance Sannidhi, or Sacred Space, to the Yard.
The Yard comes together with the African American Film Festival with Camille A. Brown and Dancers on Saturday, August 16, at 6:30 p.m.
Tap the Yard: A Vineyard Festival of Rhythm and Beats has returned to the Yard in Chilmark for the third year. The two-week festival features some of the best dancers in the country working in progressive tap and dance.
How does one capture the spirit of Martha’s Vineyard in a way that can live past the present? Or how to recreate the way time feels as the tide ebbs and flows at Stonewall Beach. Or how about the timeless music of the country’s oldest carousel?
This time around the Yard is coming to the garden. Dancers will entertain visitors to the Mytoi Japanese Garden on Chappaquiddick with pop-up performances from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 31.
