Surrounded by friends, family and fellow law enforcement officers on Tuesday, Jonathan Klaren was sworn in as the new chief of the Chilmark police department.
The Chilmark selectmen voted Thursday night to promote longtime Chilmark police Sgt. Jonathan Klaren to the position of chief.
Seekonk police Capt. Frank John, Plymouth police Capt. Bruce McNamee and Chilmark police Sgt. Jonathan Klaren were interviewed Wednesday evening. The selectmen are expected to vote tonight in a meeting that begins at 5 p.m. in the town hall.
